Arkon is a Bristol-based team of builders, plasterers and polished-concrete specialists working across BS9, BS8, BS6 and the wider city and county. General construction is our backbone — new builds, extensions, full refurbishments — and our specialist finishes (polished concrete and Venetian plaster) can be delivered as part of a larger Arkon build or commissioned on their own, dropped straight into a project your own contractor is running.
Two decades on sites ranging from period restoration in Clifton to ground-up commercial in Redland, every project is run by a principal — no subcontracting the standards. Credentials we trust ourselves to: Husqvarna Superfloor™ Certified. CSCS. Gold-standard trade training on every finish we offer.
General construction is our backbone. Our specialist finishes — polished concrete (wet or dry) and marble-based Venetian plaster — come included on an Arkon build, or standalone, dropped into a project your own contractor is running.
Concrete is 80–85% stone and sand. We don't coat it — we grind, densify and polish it dry, step by step, until the aggregate beneath the cement is exposed and the surface behaves like rock. No water. No slurry. No waste skip.
Wet polishing uses water with progressively finer diamond pads to create a dense, consolidated surface — ideal for smaller pours, bespoke screeds and micro-toppings where a mirror finish is specified. A different method to dry grinding, suited to a different set of conditions.
Authentic marble-based Venetian — marmorino and spatolato blended with ground marble dust and slaked lime putty, burnished in thin, overlapping passes until light moves across the surface the way it moves across honed stone.
As Husqvarna Superfloor™ certified installers we deliver Bronze through Platinum finishes with measurable surface metrics — slip resistance, gloss, aggregate exposure — to a specification an architect can defend in writing.
Breathable lime plasters and mortars for listed and period work — matched for grain, suction and colour to the surrounding historic fabric of Bristol's Georgian and Victorian stock. Conservation-officer briefs welcomed.
Husqvarna Superfloor™ is a complete process — machines, tools, diamond tooling and chemistry, applied dry, on site, by certified installers. Arkon is one of a small cohort in the UK qualified to specify and deliver every tier. The result: a diffusion-open polished concrete surface with measurable, signed-off surface metrics.
The standards are non-negotiable; the pace is set by the work. Every commission follows the same four stages, with a named principal on your project from first visit to final sign-off.
Site visit, measured survey, sample panels where relevant, and a written scope of works — including material specification and ballpark investment.
We work alongside your architect, interior designer or directly with you to finalise finishes, sequence and programme. Fixed quote issued, no ambiguity.
Principal-led delivery. One team on site at a time. Weekly photo report. Sample approval before every specialist finish is committed to the full elevation.
Snagging walk with a measurable checklist, not a vibe. Certificates issued for Superfloor™ installs. Aftercare guide. A two-year workmanship warranty.
A Husqvarna Superfloor™ refines the structural slab already in place. No carpet, vinyl, epoxy, laminate or tile — no weaker layer to wear out, tear up and send to landfill in ten years. A floor with a near-unlimited service life is the lowest-carbon floor.
Superfloor™ grinding is entirely dry — no water, no chemical slurry, no waste skip leaving site. Our dust-extraction rigs are HEPA-filtered; the room is cleaner at the end of the day than the start.
Our Venetian and heritage plasters are lime-based — they absorb CO₂ over their lifetime as they carbonate, regulate room humidity naturally, and contain no plastics or synthetic resins. Breathable walls for buildings that need to breathe.
Timber from certified mills. Aggregates sourced to project. Zero-VOC finishes where the spec allows. No greenwash — only what we can show on a delivery note.
We quote a limited number of projects each quarter. The more you can tell us up front — site, timescale, scope, referrer — the faster we can get back to you with a considered response and a site visit.
